Esin Kiris is the User Experience (UX) Design director at Fareportal Inc. since May 2016. She is responsible from the UI design and user research of cheapoair.com and onetravel.com websites, mobile webs and apps. She also holds an adjunct professor position and is teaching Analysis and Design graduate and undergraduate level courses at Statistics and Computer Information Systems (CIS) department of Baruch College, CUNY. Recently, she joined the Rutgers Big Data Advisory board as a member.
Prior to Fareportal Inc., she was UX Design Technology Architect at Syncsort. She led the innovative data integration software engineering, product design and strategy initiatives with responsibility to level the products to the emerging technologies, such as Big Data, Cloud and Virtualization.
Esin was the Sr. Director of Product Design team at CA Technologies. She is also one of the founders of CA Technologies Product Design team. She started her career at Bell Labs as a Sr. UI Designer and later moved to AT&T Labs eBusiness organization which is the pioneer of internet self-help applications development.
Esin is well recognized for her work among the international Computer Human Interaction (CHI) community. She owns two scientific patents “Effective visualization of an IT environment through social scoring “ and “Method and apparatus for layered overview in visualization of large enterprise IT environment“. She is the author of over a dozen scientific articles on numerous subjects including web and mobile application UX design, web site design, usability testing, UI standards, knowledge acquisition methods, expert system UI design and situation awareness approach to UI design. Some of her publications have been cited in several research articles and included in both the ACM Digital Library and Google Books. Notable examples include “The Out-of-the Loop Performance Problem and Level of Control in Automation”, “Testing Remote Users: An Innovative Technology”, and “User-Centered Design Component-Based Web Technology”.
She received a Ph.D. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University, specialized in UX design, CHI and experimental design, and a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey.
