Dr. Jorge R. Petit is a community psychiatrist and the Regional Senior Vice President for New York State for Beacon Health Options, with offices in New York City and in Latham, NY covering close to 5 million lives across all lines of business. Prior to that he was the president and founder of Quality Healthcare Solutions (QHS) Group, a consulting firm that provided training and consulting services for healthcare systems including community-based behavioral health agencies, hospital psychiatry/behavioral health departments, and local and state regulatory entities. In this capacity, Dr. Petit worked closely with The Jewish Board’s senior leadership during the lengthy but successful transition of the FEGS Behavioral Health portfolio. Through QHS, he was lead on The Robin Hood Foundation: Integrated Care Models to Improve Health Outcomes and Reduce Poverty and conducted projects with many of the New York community-based agencies, DOHMH, OMH, OASAS and OPWDD. Additionally, Dr. Petit was the Associate Commissioner in the Division of Mental Hygiene for the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and he is the author of the Handbook of Emergency Psychiatry and The Seven Beliefs – A Step-by-Step Guide to Help Latinas Recognize and Overcome Depression.
Dr. Petit is an expert advisor to the North East Business Group on Health (NEBGH), Mental Health Task Force. He is a Distinguished Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the Committee on Psychiatric Administration & Leadership in the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry (GAP) as well as the Mental Health Association of New York City’s (MHA-NYC) Professional Advisory Committee (PAC). He is also a member of the ACMHA: The College for Behavioral Health Leadership; American Association of Community Psychiatrist (AACP); American Association of Emergency Psychiatrists (AAEP) and a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine. Dr. Petit is on the Board of Primary Care Development Corporation and was the past-Board President of Mental Health News Education, Inc., the publisher of the award-winning Behavioral Health News and Autism Spectrum News. Dr. Petit is the Coordinator for the Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Program: at Touro College School of Health Sciences/Physician’s Assistant (PA) Program conducting basic training as well as an advanced Behavioral Health Seminar and preceptoring the PA student’s behavioral health clinical rotations. |
