Mary Karam McKey is Head of Corporate and Foundation at Programs at IIE. She has over 20 years of experience in the field of international education and exchange with a focus on strategic program design and implementation, global operations, and compliance and financial management. In her role, she provides leadership and overall responsibility for successful project implementation with many of IIE’s private sector partners.
During her tenure at IIE, Ms. Karam McKey has contributed to the design, development and management of several professional exchange and technical assistance programs in Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Prior to joining IIE, Ms. Karam McKey served as Director of Grant Programs at AYUSA, where she led the organization’s portfolio of U.S. Department of State sponsored exchange programs for high school students. Ms. Karam McKey was instrumental in the launch of the YES program for students from the MENA region and Pakistan in a post-9/11 context. She also served as a Senior Program Officer at AMIDEAST where she managed both privately and U.S. Department of State sponsored post-secondary scholarship programs for students from the MENA region. She started her career as a National Field Coordinator for the Arab American Institute, encouraging Arab Americans to become involved in the U.S. political process through voter and political party engagement. She holds a BA from Hamilton College and an MA from The University of Texas at Austin. |
